Gold settles at 6-week high, up about 1% for the week

Gold prices rose Friday to settle at their highest level in six weeks as weaker-than-expected U.S. job growth in May cast some doubt on the pace of U.S. interest-rate hikes this year. Based on the most-active contract, the metal tacked on about 1% for the week, for a fourth-straight week of gains. August gold rose $10.10, or 0.8%, to settle at $1,280.20 an ounce for the session.
