Trump administration asks Supreme Court to reinstate travel ban

The Trump administration late Thursday asked the U.S. Supreme Court to reinstate its travel ban targeting six majority-Muslim countries. The Justice Department is seeking an expedited hearing before the justices, and is asking for the ban to be put back in place while the high court decides whether to take the case. The government is seeking to set aside a ruling by the Fourth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Virginia last month that blocked the executive order from taking effect nationwide. In a 10-3 ruling, appeals court said the order “drips with religious intolerance, animus and discrimination.”
