City of Philadelphia sues Wells Fargo, claims it engaged in discriminatory lending practices

The city of Philadelphia filed a federal lawsuit Monday against Wells Fargo, claiming the bank has engaged in discriminatory lending practices that target minority borrowers.

The complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, alleges that beginning in 2004 and continuing through the present, San Francisco-based Wells Fargo violated the Fair Housing Act by steering African-American and Latino borrowers towards high-cost or high-risk loans even where those borrowers’ credit permitted them… …read more
