WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Fixed mortgage rates continue to trend lower, Freddie Mac said Thursday, while adjustable-rate mortgages rose. The benchmark 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 3.79% in the week ending Oct. 22, down from 3.82% last week and 3.92% in the same week last year. The 15-year fixed rate mortgage fell to 2.98% from 3.03%. The 5-year Treasury-indexed hybrid adjustable rate mortgage rose to 2.89% from 2.88%, while the 1-year Treasury-indexed ARM averaged 2.62%, up from 2.54%.
