U.S. stocks opened lower on Wednesday as the financial markets grappled with the prospects of Republican Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States. The S&P 500 fell 12 points, or 0.6%, to 2,127 while the Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 26 points, or 0.2%, to 18,305. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 39 points, or 0.8%, to 5,153. “The falls in some markets are understandable. A Clinton victory had been priced in by many investors and what a Trump presidency will look like is still unclear – markets hate uncertainty,” said Martin Gilbert, chief executive of Aberdeen Asset Management.
