U.S. stocks opened lower on Monday, as investors were reluctant to take on risk ahead of the first U.S. presidential debate and an important meeting of major global oil producers. Meanwhile, heavy losses for Germany’s Deutsche Bank AG , which earlier sank to an all-time low, took a heavy toll on European markets and threatened to weigh on U.S. financial shares. The S&P 500 opened 8 points, or 0.3%, lower at 2,157. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 70 points, or 0.4%, at 18,194. And the Nasdaq Composite fell 28 points, or 0.5%, to 5,277.
