U.S. stocks opened flat on Friday, as the market’s recent uptrend was seen as intact despite a weak read on economic growth, as well as some disappointing corporate results. The U.S. economy slowed in the fourth quarter, according to the latest GDP data, coming in at a 1.9% growth rate, which was below expectations. Separately, both Chevron Corp and Google parent Alphabet fell after their results missed expectations. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 8.3 points to 20,093, essentially flat on the day. The S&P 500 rose 0.1%, or 1.3 point, to 2,298. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 10.5 points, or 0.2%, to 5,664.
