Shares of companies that operate in the prison industry rose in Wednesday premarket trading in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s election win. Shares of Corrections Corporation of America soared 19.7%, while GEO Group Inc , a real estate investment trust (REIT), were up 9.1%. Shares of both companies have sunk in the year to date. Corrections Corp. is down 46.4% for that period and GEO Group is down 17.4%. The S&P 500 Index is up 4.7% for the year to date.
