Traders continued to weigh the possibility that the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries will be able to finalize a deal to curb output at a meeting Wednesday. January West Texas Intermediate crude rose $1.02, or 2.2%, to settle at $47.08 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
