Hellmann’s mayonnaise goes cage-free three years ahead of schedule

Hellmann’s, a Unilever PLC brand, said Monday that its mayonnaise and mayonnaise dressings will now be made exclusively with cage-free eggs, reaching the goal three years ahead of plan. In 2010, Hellmann’s said it aimed to go cage-free by 2020. The brand says it uses 331 million eggs each year. Hellmann’s joins a long list of companies, including Panera Bread Co. and 7-Eleven, that have made commitments to use cage-free eggs. Unilever shares are down 0.5% in Monday trading, but up 14.6% over the past year. The S&P 500 index is up 18.6% for the last 12 months.
