Hasbro, Mattel shares fall after Lego announces job cuts

Shares of toymakers Hasbro Inc. and Mattel Inc. have tumbled in early Tuesday trading following news that Lego A/S will cut 1,400 jobs. Hasbro shares are down 2.7% for the day so far, and Mattel shares have fallen 1.2%. Lego announced its first sales decline in 13 years, with revenue falling 5% to 14.9 billion kroner from 15.7 billion kroner for the six months ending June 30. Hasbro shares are up 23% for the year so far while Mattel shares are down nearly 41% for the period. The S&P 500 index is up 10.2% for 2017 to date.
