Gold closed lower Wednesday following news that President Donald Trump and congressional leaders reached an agreement to raise the debt ceiling and fund the government until Dec. 15. Concerns about the debt ceiling had partly contributed to the precious metal’s recent string of gains. December gold declined $5.50, or 0.4%, to settle at $1,339 an ounce.
