Factory orders shoot 1.2% higher in January

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Factory orders climbed by 1.2% in January, meeting the MarketWatch-compiled economist forecast. The Commerce Department said orders have climbed for 6 of the last 7 months and rose 0.3% when transportation was excluded. Industrial machinery orders climbed by 6.6%, while photographic equipment orders dropped by 15%.
