It’s officially the Dog Days of Summer, so this week we’re celebrating our furry friends — cats included — with design-savvy, pet-friendly spaces, DIY recipes and more. Trust us: Your dogs won’t be able to resist Camille’s frozen peanut butter creation.
Cool, creamy and oh-so-yummy, ice cream is my go-to summer indulgence. Not surprisingly, it’s also my pups’ favorite treat. I usually keep the freezer well stocked with store-bought doggie ice cream. But when my local grocery store stopped carrying their favorite brand, I decided to get creative and come up with a recipe for homemade ice cream that my pups would not only love but that would also be somewhat (it is ice cream, after all) healthy for them.
After talking to my vet and reading up on safe ingredients for dogs, I came up with this easy-to-make 4-ingredient recipe that my pups give their lip-smackin’ seal of approval:
My girls loved their frosty treats so much that I create this fun little video of them getting their ice cream on. And a treat this good is too good not to share so we decided to throw an impromptu puppy ice cream party:
