Building Regulations Impact Rent Prices

In a recent article from Zillow, economist Sarah Mikhitarian explains how cities with stricter building codes and regulations make it difficult to construct new units. This leads to fewer apartments available to rent and an increase in rent price. One highlight: “Over the past five years, rents in cities with the most-restrictive land use regulations grew almost three times as quickly as in cities with the least-restrictive regulations.”
